Bio: The sun glistened on the surface of the bay as the waves washed the sandy beach.  An attractive young woman walked along the waters edge.  Marissa watched the blue-green water, hoping for some sign of her friend who had disappeared years ago.  She had heard several stories about a mischievous mermaid with familiar aspects.  Blue eyes, brown hair, and semi-tanned skin based descriptions drew Marissa to her friends old beach house.
As the sun set, the curious lass noticed an intricately detailed pair of sea shells had washed up on shore.  The shells looked broken as she picked them up.  "These would make fantastic decorations." she smiled as she place them inside her bag.  The shells began to glow, going unnoticed by Marissa.  As the plucky young woman walked, her steps became more and more labored.  Finally falling down, she looked behind her and realized she had a tail where her legs were supposed to be.  The knobby whelk shell tops flew out of her purse.  As if some will was behind them, they latched onto the front of her breasts as her top seemingly disintegrated.
"What th- why th- how th-?!!" she said aloud gasping for breath.  She flopped towards the surf, each inch of water gained easing her struggle.  A large wave crashed onto the beach drawing her out into the sea.  She swam away from land and towards a vibrantly colored reef nearby.
Marissa treaded water, unable to comprehend what had happened to her.  She inspected her body closely as the moonlight struck her anatomy.  She realized that her lower body was covered in spikes that lay flat on her tail.  As she swam along, a pair of blue eyes followed her.  The blue-eyed form followed her as Marissas lithe body glided through the water.  Looking behind her, she saw a shape approach her.  Unable to identify it, through an innate instinct coupled with fear, began to inhale water.  Her entire being began to swell.  Her tail, belly, breasts, and even her arms lost their flexability.  She was no more than a big round water balloon when the dark shape came into focus.  "Michelle?" she thought as the her body sank to the sandy bottom.  Michelle hugged Marissa as she came to rest in a clearing.  Flapping her hands, Marissa looked at her formerly missing friend in disbelief of what they had both become.  "Michelle, you're alive!!!" she thought flapping her hands happily, "And you're changed like me!!!".  Michelle nodded her head in confirmation as she swam about her puffed up friend, attempting to ascertain where Marissas lateral line was.
Suddenly a shark wandered into sensory range, and as instinct demanded, Michelle began to inhale gallons of water like Marissa did mere minutes before.  Her body swelled and swelled with more and more water, causing her scales to stand up as her anatomy distended.  The shark lost interest quickly as both Michelle and Marissa appeared too large to eat.  Michelle exhaled, expelling all the water she had swallowed in her defensive display.  She began rolling Marissa to a sheltering cave.  Marissa blushed at the feeling of hands on her taut skin as her friend continued to roll her across the sandy sea floor.
